About MathBridge

MathBridge is a bilingual mathematics dictionary built specifically for students transitioning from the French national curriculum to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP). Moving between these two educational systems can be challenging: while the underlying mathematics is often the same, the terminology used to describe it is not. A French student arriving in an IB classroom may understand the concepts perfectly but find themselves lost simply because the vocabulary is different. MathBridge exists to close that gap.

The dictionary covers the four core branches of IB MYP mathematics — Number, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, and Statistics and Probability. Each entry pairs the French term with its English or IB equivalent, provides a clear definition, and includes a worked example so students can see the concept in context. Where the French and IB terms look similar but carry subtly different meanings, a terminology trap flag alerts the reader and explains the distinction. An integrated flashcards mode and a personal "My Words" tracking system let students mark terms as Known, Learning, or Don't Know and revise them at their own pace.

MathBridge is an independent student project. It was built to serve French-curriculum students — whether they are moving into an IB school, preparing for MYP assessment, or simply wanting to reconcile the vocabulary they already know with the terms their new teachers use. The vocabulary comparison was compiled with the help of AI tools, then cross-referenced against official French Ministry of Education curriculum documents and IB mathematics guides to keep it as reliable as possible. It is maintained by a single student developer who is happy to hear feedback, corrections, or suggestions through the Contact page.
